I live to work so that in the future I can live to fulfil my dream lifestyle. I don't need a car or condo. I don't need branded luxury goods. I don't need to fly business class or first class. I don't need to show off on social media. I'm very content staying in my 5 room hdb flat with ikea furniture. I'm content buying all my clothes from Uniqlo.
Sometimes you have to work to live. These are called survival jobs. While you are in these jobs, you keep applying to jobs you think you would like to do, and continue to add education and experience to your portfolio. I live to work. It gives me purpose and happiness and contentment.

The live to work mentality is unhealthy. If you enjoy your work, great, but you need more than just work in your life. I've been clear for years that I work to live. When I look for work, I won't travel an hour and a half each way, I won't work 40 hour weeks, I look within about a 20 minute drive of home and for permanent work, I cap at 37.5 hours.
