   a box will appear wherein you will fill in a password for the document. Follow the instructions and although the blue areas still appear, they can not be edited. Make a copy of your document before you star the process so the copy in your computer can still be modified.

   I created it by saving an original Word file as a .PDF, then opening it in Acrobat, and then click Tools>Prepare Form. The fields become fillable, then I save the file - either just by clicking save, or by clicking "save as other">reader extended PDF>enable more tools.

   It is a certificate template which I then enter the details into the fields and want to send on to the learner - however, I don't want the learner to be able to change the details in the fields and create their own certificates! Even if I save the document with a different name and email it, the recipient can still edit the fields.

   Some times the students only half complete the document and need to save the file and come back to it at a later date and continue filling in the form. The problem is, when the student saves the file the information thay have entered is there. But the fillable fields are no longer available. They can not continue filling the rest in.

   I was trying to be succinct. It would be very helpful if I could save a completed fillable pdf as another pdf that embeds the data in the fillable fields; then I could append it to another pdf. If there is an instance of the completed fillable and an instance of the blank fillable--as happens--I can't append both of them to the same pdf.

   All I am trying to find is some way of enforcing required text fields on a pdf form. There are three fields at the top of my form that need this.
