Akira Toriyama (Japanese: 鳥山明, Hepburn: Toriyama Akira, April 5, 1955 – March 1, 2024) was a Japanese manga artist and character designer.He came to be regarded as one of the most important authors in the history of manga, authoring highly influential and popular series, particularly Dragon Ball.
He is the creator of the animated series Being Ian and Yvon of the Yukon with Studio B Productions. His most notable voice roles include Mega Man in Ruby-Spears ' Mega Man series, Cheetor in Beast Wars: Transformers , and the first English voice of adult Goku in the Ocean dub of Dragon Ball Z from 1996–1997.
Goku later names his first son Gohan in his grandfather's honor. In the anime, he later appears as an assistant to Annin (アンニン), the ruler of the "magical furnace". He is voiced by Osamu Saka in the Japanese version of the original series, Kinpei Azusa in Bardock: The Father of Goku, and Shigeru Chiba in Dragon Ball Kai.
