Vaartha was launched in 1996 [2] with A.B.K Prasad as its first editor. It claimed to be the first Telugu daily in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to use Information Technology, [citation needed] allowing it to publish news that broke at as late as 4 a.m. Vaartha was initially popular, competing with Eenadu and Udayam.

Katta Shekar Reddy is an Indian journalist and editor of the Telugu newspaper Namasthe Telangana, having served in that capacity since June 2014. [1] [2] Reddy earlier worked with Udayam, Andhra Jyothi and Vaartha Telugu newspapers. [3] He also worked as Executive Editor at Mahaa TV. He joined Namasthe Telangana as its CEO in September 2010.
Visalaandhra was the first newspaper in the state, started from Vijayawada. [2] As per the 58th annual report of Press India 2013–14, the large and medium Telugu daily publications from Vijayawada include Andhra Jyothy, Eenadu, Sakshi, Suryaa, Andhra Prabha, Vaartha, Prajasakti, and Udaya Bharatam.
