ITV2 is a British free-to-air television channel owned by ITV Digital Channels, a division of ITV plc. [1] It was launched on 7 December 1998. For a number of years, it had the largest audience share after the five analogue terrestrial stations, a claim now held by its sister service ITV3 [2] both of which are freely available to a majority of households.
In March 2022, ITV announced the launch of ITVX, [3] an integrated advertising and subscription funded platform. The service serves as a replacement for ITV Hub, taking over as the broadcaster's catch-up service, and is positioned as a direct competitor to BBC iPlayer and the Channel 4 VOD service; featuring more exclusive programming, and a selection of FAST channels.
A paid subscription service allows users to watch ad-free and download content. [48] In November 2022, ITV announced a new streaming service to replace ITV Hub called ITVX. Launching on 8 December 2022, ITVX provides archive programming for which ITV plc owns the license, live events, and exclusive programming. [49]

In 2023, ITV announced that CITV would cease broadcasting as a linear channel, and would be replaced by ITVX Kids, a streaming media service which launched in July 2023. [69] The CITV channel closed on 1 September 2023, with a dedicated CITV programming block now broadcasting on ITV2 every morning, from 2 September 2023.
