Murray County is a county located in the southern part of the U.S. state of Oklahoma.As of the 2020 census, the population was 13,904. [1] The county seat is Sulphur. [2] The county was named for William H. Murray, a member and president of the Oklahoma Constitutional Convention and later a Governor of Oklahoma.

[4] The population was 5,065 at the 2020 census, a 2.8 percent gain over the figure of 4,929 in 2010. [5] The area around Sulphur has been noted for its mineral springs, since well before the city was founded late in the 19th century.
In the town, the population was spread out, with 22.3% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 30.8% from 25 to 44, 24.1% from 45 to 64, and 14.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 109.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 109.6 males.
The range is approximately 35 miles (56 km) east-to-west and 10–15 miles north-to-south. The main part of the range is located in northern Carter County and southern Murray County, approximately 15 miles (24 km) north of Ardmore and 5 miles (8.0 km) south of Davis, Oklahoma on Interstate 35.
