150-300 yards range probably. Feel free to concisely elaborate on bullet ballistics if that's what makes the case for the rifle type, or rifle features in general that do the trick, etc etc etc. Right now I'm inclined to build a modern M14, always liked and wanted an M14. I had and sold an M1 Garand last year, never got to go hunting, blah blah ...
African carry: This will not work well if you are 5'2" and carry a rifle with a 26" barrel. However, it works in most cases. Put the sling on "upside down". I attach the wide, shoulder segment of the sling at the butt, and the narrow other end at the front swivel. Carry the rifle on the left shoulder, muzzle down.
Upgrade the trigger on a base model of some type and you will be good. You should consider buying a 5.56 rifle and a separate upper in the caliber of your choice for deer hunting. That way you could put decent glass on the upper for hunting and switch back to the 5.56 for home defense with a more appropriate site, either a red dot or something ...
Tilden Hunter. The 44 mag carries enough punch for whitetails out past 200 yds, but trajectory gets steep. With a 240 grain bullet at about 1800 fps, if you sight in for 2.5 inches high at 100, you'll be zeroed at about 150 and only 2.7" or so low at 175.
The FCS is proprietary as well. Posted: 12/27/2016 4:25:45 AM EDT. [#14] I don't know... take an extra wide stock blank, build an integrated lower receiver inside that stock (use metal inserts to give the internal pins support). Now you have an AR15 that looks like a normal not-so-evil-looking rifle. Posted: 12/27/2016 2:50:44 PM EDT.

You can legally shotgun hunt anywhere in the state on Nov. 15. The restriction is for center-fire rifle and that restriction is in roughly zone 3 of the state. The hunting digest that you can get at any license dealer will show you where the boundary line for the rifle restriction is. As a rule, it is roughly from saginaw bay at kawkawlin ...
A quick and dirty way of doing the same thing would be to multiply the distance of your "spot" at a 30 degree angle by 90%. For the distance at a 45 degree angle, multiply it by 70% and for the 60 degree angle, multiply the distance by 50%. Bow hunters have been shooting over the top of deer with their recurve bows for years because the target ...
I will be hunting this year with a .308 AR. I understand for semi-auto shotguns and semi-auto rifles that there is a limit of rounds that can be in the magazine and gun combined. From the handbook: "It is unlawful to hunt with a semi-automatic shotgun or semi-automatic rifle that can hold more than six shells in the barrel and magazine combined ...
