I am trying to copy the text from a cell that I used the Concatenated function in but it only copies the formula (=CONCATENATE(A2,C2,D2,E2,F2,G2,H2,I2,J2,K2) ),not the actual text that I want. How can I copy just the text and paste it somewhere else? Thanks!
I need to copy and paste the column of concatenated results to another workbook. The simple copy and paste way does not work. There are several questions from others with the same problem. I have read the questions and answers and they seem to fall into two groups.
the question, a decade later: is there an excel-native way to convert these new concatenated values in column A4 into *permanent plain old text values*, instead of *results of the concatenation formula permanently dependent upon the values being concatenated*?
What I want to do is to copy a range of cells that have information in them using a concatenate formula. If I copy the range or selection of cells and pate them, the new cells have the formula in them, but they display no text or data in the new cells.
Simply select the column with the formula, and the Copy the date. Right click in the same location, and select Paste Special, and then click on the "Values" button. This will return the result of the formula only, as a standard text string. You can then delete the other data without worries.
This is the exact formula I am using: =CONCATENATE (G3;", ";H3) G3: Penny Loafer. H3: Black. When I click enter it show me the correct value like this: Penny Loafer, Black. I have over 1000 rows in the excel sheet I am using and want to quickly copy the formula down the whole column.
Applies To. You can combine data from multiple cells into a single cell using the Ampersand symbol (&) or the CONCAT function. Combine data with the Ampersand symbol (&) Select the cell where you want to put the combined data. Type = and select the first cell you want to combine. Type & and use quotation marks with a space enclosed.
Apply the following formula in cell F5. =CONCATENATE(B5,", ",E5) This formula joins the number in cell B5, a comma with a space, and the text value in cell E5 into one single text. Drag the Fill Handle to copy the formula to the rest of the cells.
You can copy and paste specific cell contents or attributes (such as formulas, formats, comments, and validation). By default, if you use the Copy and Paste icons (or + C and + V), all attributes are copied. To pick a specific paste option, you can either use a Paste menu option or select Paste Special, and pick an option from the Paste Special ...
You can also concatenate text from multiple cells using the ampersand (&) operator. For example, you can enter =B2&" "&A2 to get the same result as =CONCATENATE(B2," ",A2) . There's no real advantage of using one over the other. although using the ampersand operator results in a shorter entry.
