All public schools and many private schools in Bangladesh follow the curriculum of NCTB. Starting in 2010, every year free books are distributed to students between Grade-1 to Grade-10 to eliminate illiteracy. [6] These books comprise most of the curricula of the majority of Bangladeshi schools. There are two versions of the curriculum.

The Dhaka University Library is the central library of the University of Dhaka which started in 1921 with a collection of eighteen thousand books received from Dhaka College and Law College. In 1995, the "National Book Centre" law was passed in the parliament of Bangladesh, and the organization was subsequently renamed "National Book Centre". [4] In 2016, the government of Bangladesh announced plans to shift the National Book Centre and the Central Public Library to a newly constructed high-rise building. [ 5 ]
