The mission of the Northwoods Humane Society (NHS) is to provide a sheltered environment for unwanted animals. NHS will work to find appropriate homes for animals, provide medical care as needed and work to socialize and train to increase their success in a home situation.

The Thrift Shop is located one block off Main Street in Hayward and it is FABULOUS! It is the largest source of income for the Shelter. NHS has purchased the building and has greatly expanded the space.

Northwoods Humane Society has brought 30 beagles to its Shelter in Hayward, WI as part of the group of beagles to be removed from a mass-breeding facility riddled with animal welfare concerns.

The "Bark Parks" consists of two outdoor dog parks, one park for large dogs and a separate park for small dogs.
