In 1985, Polaris introduced the Scrambler ATC [12] and Trail Boss, which are considered to be the first American-made production all-terrain vehicles (ATV). [13]

Speciality manufacturer Tiger ATV also produced a range of ATCs, but their liquidation in 1991 left no official record of how many units were produced.
