The building is located at 1901 Olathe Bouelevard and was established in the mid-1890s by Horatio W. and Mary Gates. [2] That Gates family was among the first licensed embalmers in the state, and they built this Neoclassical-style funeral home in 1922 to house their growing business.
Centralia was incorporated in 1882. [5] One of the early residents of Centralia was Floyd Perry Baker, a Kansas politician and newspaper editor, who moved there with his family from Andrew County, Missouri circa 1860. Centralia Intermediate School is the newest building of the four, having opened for classes in August 2009. It was constructed in order to deal with the district's increasing enrollment.
