This is a list of North American mammals. It includes all mammals currently found in the United States, St. Pierre and Miquelon, Canada, Greenland, Bermuda, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean region, whether resident or as migrants. This article does not include species found only in captivity.

He was the author of six books. [1] E. Raymond Hall and Keith R. Kelson's two-volume work The Mammals of North America (1959) is regarded as a classic of North American mammalian systematics and biogeography. It was revised and reissued by Hall in 1981 under sole authorship.

More than fifty animals were named after him, [7] including various mammals, some birds, a lizard (Sceloporus goldmani), [8] a snake, a turtle, a frog, and a mollusk.
