Bellevue College (BC) is a public college in Bellevue, Washington.Created in 1966, the school is the largest of the 34 institutions that make up the Washington Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) system and the third-largest institution of higher education in the state (behind the University of Washington and Washington State University).
Opened in 1966 as Bellevue College, its aim was to provide education for working adults in the area. By 1974 it had become the fourth largest private college in Nebraska and had added a gymnasium, student center, and library. [3] In 1977, Bellevue earned full accreditation from the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools.
The Washington State Community College system was first established by the Community College Act of 1967. [1] The Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges, along with administering the Community and Technical College Act, [2] provides the member colleges with leadership and information technology services.
