Joshua’s Law is a Georgia state law enacted in 2007 [1] changing the driver's license requirements for teen drivers. [2] A teen driver must meet the new requirements to obtain a Georgia driver’s license. The law was named after Joshua Brown, who died in an accident in 2003. [3]
The provisional license is available only after passing the theory test. A full licence can be acquired only after passing the driving test. Once the learner has passed the theory test, they may take the practical driving test. Once the practical driving test has been taken and passed, a full driving licence will be automatically issued.
Learner must log 50 hours of practice driving including ten hours of night driving, and hold permit for six months. Provisional licensees are only permitted to drive between 5:00 a.m. and midnight, with exceptions for work, family, school and medical purposes, or when accompanied by a licensed driver 21 years of age or older.
