Hampton Bays Public Schools is a public school district in Hampton Bays, a hamlet in the Town of Southampton in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The total enrollment for the 2007–2008 school year was 1783 students. [1] The superintendent is Lars Clemensen.
The school was originally known as Hampton Bays Junior-Senior School when it opened in 1971, serving grades seven to twelve. In 1993, the school was renamed Hampton Bays Secondary School until 2008, when it reverted to a high school with the opening of a middle school in the district, with grades seven and eight moving to the new campus.
Hampton Bays is served by Hampton Bays Public Schools. [12] The district operates three schools. Hampton Bays Elementary School serves grades Pre-K-4, [13] and Hampton Bays Middle School, which fully opened in Fall 2008, serves grades 5-8. It is the first "green" school in New York state. Students then complete their education at the East Hampton High School as part of a tuition agreement with the East Hampton Union Free School District.
