Being sworn in by Nelson Wolff. Chris Rene Marrou (born November 12, 1947) is former news anchor for KENS 5-TV in San Antonio, Texas from 1973 to 2009. Marrou is known for doing segments where he involved himself in different occupations or tried unique endeavors (such as eating a hot chili pepper).
During the summer of 1976, KPIX in San Francisco, California, a CBS affiliate then owned by Westinghouse (Group W) Broadcasting, premiered a local weeknight television news and entertainment series titled Evening: The MTWTF Show. The show was designed to add localism as suggested by the newly enacted "Prime Time Access Rule."
Prior to moving to Los Angeles, Vara worked at NBC stations in Dallas, Minneapolis, and Washington, DC. She also had worked at ABC affiliates KVII-TV in Amarillo, Texas in the late 1980s and KSAT-TV in her hometown of San Antonio, Texas. In June 1994, she began her career in Los Angeles on KNBC's Today in L.A., their morning newscast.
