I’ve heard that it does bring up your chances. Anyone that you know previously attending their school should boost your chances, but that all depends on how the interview went. I know a friend that has outstanding stats and his brother graduated from UDM’s dental school, But he got rejected because his interview didn’t go well.
I had a lot of AP credit coming from high school and took summer classes. My main goal is Michigan schools so I only applied to Detroit Mercy because UofM starts during the final semester of my undergraduate. My overall GPA is 3.95 and my science is 4.00. I got a 23 on my DAT and have 100+ hours of volunteering and 480 dental shadowing hours.

Apr 20, 2015. #2. While I cannot speak on behalf of UDM, U of Michigan has a great clinical reputation. Granted Ann Arbor may not be as diverse as Detroit, the school has numerous clinical rotations that span the entire state.

I agree with ToothMeow, I was accepted with a GPA about 3.85, similar DAT but a first percentile casper. It seems like they really did look at the application more holistically because my casper was really low and they took into account other things like why UDM and my dental experiences.
