Way Active Member. This Bicentennial features an R on Washington's chin due to a previous off center strike. The rim of the coin from the previous strike also is visible. I have up to 400x magnification and can make out distinct die characteristics whithin the R on the chin that has doubling strait west on the R on his chin.

Bicentennial Quarter error? I was going through some 1975 mint sets and noticed several of the quarters with the Bicentennial reverse have what looks like some kind of a strike trough which wiped out the top of the drum in the front. I tried to upload a close up of the drum but it keeps telling me my jpeg is an invalid file....
The front has the dramatic covering of the entire date (1976), on the back the word "of" along with the "s" in "states" is only slightly there, and the rim of the quarter is slightly raised above flat on the head side, while the tail side feels as if it has no rim at all. My hope is that this post will shed some light on what I have here.
is this a Close AM Bicentennial Quarter 1776-1976-D? if so what would be the value? Close AM isn't a variety for bicentennial quarters. It's a variety for the 1992 Lincoln Memorial cent, which was meant to have a Wide AM, but, if I recall, used a proof reverse on a small number of business strikes.
Anyways here it is, as you can see the LIB is missing and part of ERTY at the top and the IN & TR are missing on the "IN GOD WE TRUST" along with the 1776 date on the obverse. Oh and the mint mark is plugged, or whatever that's called. The reverse, only QUART in "Quarter" really. I'm not much into errors, I like them but I've never ever gotten ...
