Just to clarify there are two main stories. DC vs. Marvel and JLA/Avengers In DC vs. MArvel-There were 11 battles fought between the two universes. The result of the following six battles were determined by the miniseries' creative team. (I thought there was a fan vote for this: Aquaman (DC) vs. Namor the Sub-Mariner (Marvel).
And as others have mentioned, Hollywood doesn't care about DC vs Marvel. They care about starpower, genres and trends. If a high profile character like Joker was to flop bad, it could mean a hasty end to the MCU or major cutbacks as the studios get cold feet and begin mining other genres to find the next big thing. Sales-wise, DC lost to Marvel in the 80s. In terms of quality, Marvel's ongoing was better than DC's in general, even in the late 80s. Frank Miller wrote Daredevil for Marvel and then went to DC but then he came back to Marvel in the late 80s and did BORN AGAIN, which is his best work in superhero stories.
60's Marvel, easy. 70's Marvel, although DC comes close. 80s DC by just a hair, but the real winners in that decade were Fantagraphics, First!, Eclipse and Mirage. 90s DC for Vertigo, the mainstream output of Marvel and DC were pretty dire, with some exceptions. 2000 - current : Marvel.
Marvel had Incredible Hulk and Spidey Super Stories on Electric Company (which, lets face it, was bad) and their decade culminated in that horrible live action Spider-Man. Marvel destroyed itself in media for the foreseeable future while DC went on to make other Superman movies, a Supergirl movie, a Superboy series, Batman 1989, a couple of ...
Jun 15, 2017. #1. It's my opinion that The Great Evil Beast is the clear-cut most powerful cosmic combatant DC has ever produced. Even over both the Pre-Retcon Anti-Monitor and Mandrakk the Dark Monitor. When The Spectre is going all-out and failing to stalemate what turns out to be just one of your thumbs, you know that you are the cosmic champ.
So I was wondering if that was true. I'm only really aware of 3 crossovers. 1976: Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man - Takes place in an Elseworld inhabited by both characters. 1996: DC vs. Marvel. 2003: JLA/Avengers - This, I don't believe, referenced DC vs. Marvel, and had characters meeting for the first time again. Tell me if I'm wrong.
Martian Man Hunter Vs The Thing (No Tp)---Martian Manhunter. Faster, stronger and can fly. Hawkman Vs Archangel---Hawkman. He seems more skilled and warrior like in general. Etrigan Vs Ghost Rider---Ghost Rider. Etrigan may have more stricks but Ghost Rider seems stronger and tougher, plus the penance stare. Shazam Vs Dr. Doom---Captain Marvel.
In 1996 there was a limited issue of DC vs Marvel featuring 2 "cosmic brothers" each of the other multiverse and started battling each other by selecting opponents from both universe to determine who wins. I wanted to ask about the brothers themselves. The Living Tribunal was almost powerless...
Goggindowner said: Seems like we are pretty close to the same age (born in 1984). Technically a millennial, but just barely. Marvel would also probably have more of a foothold into that generation due to the success of their film franchise that, so far, DC has struggled to match. Born same year, same opinion.
