Cape Breton post Article in the post today about a women who works out west and travels home can't understand why flights have been stopped into Sydney. Calls this unfair, well my dear it takes a lot of money to run a airport and they don't have any money! so.... if your saying run the flights for free and don't pay any of the workers, just so ...
Has anybody notices the Cape Breton Post has started telling the truth about Cape Breton since Saltwire went bankrupt. Hardly a word about the out of control housing, health or economic situation for years. But now it is wall to wall CANCER!, NO HOUSING!, POVERTY!!!!
Rural Cape Breton isn't really comparable and you have to bring your expectations for amenities way down. Especially if you're basing your assumption on what life is like from tourist brochures. Baddeck seems busy because it's a tourist town - it's definitely bustling in summer, but as soon as that ends most of it dies down.
Given that the story is from the Cape Breton post, it's likely that the headline is just highlighting the local angle. I would imagine the st John's paper would instead focus on the woman who was originally from Newfoundland.
Cape Breton is a shit hole. I went to university with a bunch of them and visited the island multiple times. People are super rude and think they are better then everyone even though they are a bunch a greasy hicks with little education, many live on welfare and I'm surprised any of them get into universities in general

What are your favorite Cape Breton spots, sights, restaurants, whatever (especially with a kid). We're planning to drive out for a long weekend this summer and want to make the most of it! We love beaches, trails, seaglass, cabins, interesting cafes/restaurants, museums.. basically anything and everything.
I have since moved away from Cape Breton, although I do still talk to friends on the Island. Recently I learned about a new Christian school operating in North Sydney called Munro Academy. They operate a school for small children, but I looked into the separate high school they operate. When I did I was immediately made anxious.
You'd be best off visiting Judique on Cape Breton's western coast. Talk about a scenic and fun-filled place to spend an afternoon! Some of the neat things you can do in Judique include: Drive by Buddy MacMaster's old home Say the rosary at St. Andrew's Catholic Church Listen to Andrea Beaton give-er at the Celtic Music Centre
