State Route 2 (SR 2), formerly known as Inter-county Highway 2 until 1921 [3] and State Highway 2 in 1922, [4] is an east–west highway crossing most of northern Ohio. Its western terminus is at the Indiana state line near Hicksville where the route becomes Indiana State Road 37 which continues to Fort Wayne, Indiana .
The Lakeland Freeway (often called "Route 2" in the section that carries solely Ohio State Route 2) is a limited-access freeway in the northeastern suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. It runs with and parallel to Interstate 90 , and follows the shore of Lake Erie , linking the suburban areas of Lake County to Cleveland and Cuyahoga County .
SR 30 was a north-south state highway that nearly crossed the length of Ohio. The route existed from 1923 through 1926 and was replaced by SR 13 that year. [4] [9] Most of the route from Chauncey to Milan still follows SR 13 except for the section north of Milan, now US 250 carries the former route into Sandusky.
SR 271 was a state highway through east-central Ohio. When it was first designated in 1932, it ran from Coshocton to North Salem taking over a part of SR 95. [2] [4] In 1935, the route was vastly expanded west to include all of the former SR 309 from Tunnel Hill to Coshocton, unnumbered roads from New Guilford to Tunnel Hill, and part of SR 206 from Martinsburg to New Guilford.

The bridge, completed in 1939, is 8,000 feet (2,400 m) in length, and was the longest elevated structure in Ohio [4] until the 2007 completion of the Veterans' Glass City Skyway in Toledo. It was named for Harold H. Burton , 45th mayor of Cleveland, in late January 1986. [ 5 ]
The Ohio Turnpike/I-90 connector (designated exit 8A, now exit 142) was built in Lorain County in Amherst Township and Elyria Township in 1975. [5] From the exit east, I-90/State Route 2 (SR 2) travels east along the south shore of Lake Erie through Cuyahoga County to Downtown Cleveland. SR 2 separates from I-90 at Detroit Road in Rocky River.
State Route 223 was renumbered as State Route 283 when U.S. Route 223 was created in Ohio in 1930 over U.S. Route 127, which was rerouted over part of State Route 108 (see below), and most of State Route 9 (The rest of which became part of State Route 15). US 22 extended to Cincinnati over State Route 10 in 1931.
