I saw a doe. But if it is 2 deer, it can get more complicated. I saw 2 doe. I saw 2 does. OK.....so what do you say? I have always said "does".....as do most people I hunt with or talk to. But, there are alot of people who will say "doe" no matter if it is 1 or 20. I know "I saw a deer" and "I saw 2 deer" is the same. But when then you saw "a ...

Sorry for the newbie question here, but I have only taken 1 deer a few years ago, a buck. I will be hunting the late antlerless season here in a few days, and I have never taken a doe. What I am concerned about, is how to propery attach my tag, so that it does not come off while I am dragging the deer (if im lucky enough to get one) out of the ...
I've shot twice at a deer on one occasion. Rem 700 30-06 The buck was chasing a doe going almost straight away. Shot him upper left hindquarter to hit the off side shoulder. He was obviously hit but didn't go down. As he ran 90 deg to the right, I touched another one off just before he went behind a pine where I'd never see him again.
I believe everything needs to be taken to extreme in the upper peninsula to save the Deer herd. Saving and restoration of habitat, predator control, one buck limit, very few doe permits. Current deer density studies performed by the DNR. Moving deer instead of killing from the banana belt to the low population areas.
I've found two different deer beds on two different farms in the past week where there's been a circle shaped pile of blood 8-10 inches in diameter near one end of the bed. In one case there was a minor blood trail for the 10 yards previous to the bed, and in the other case there was no blood trail entering or leaving.

not a bad question. i've never field dressed a doe and the other day I was watching a video and saw the milk pouring out when they cut into the body cavity. WHOA! There are plenty of video clips on www.youtube.com and you can just search "field dressing deer". good luck!
This means that nearly two-thirds of the deer season, and probably close to 80-90% of hunters’ efforts, was over before hunters began really focusing on antlerless deer. Data supports this, as over 37% of all antlerless deer reported taken in 2022 came after Thanksgiving, compared to only 9% of all antlered deer taken during this time.
Shooting a buck would be a blast too, but I have only made it out hunting 2 times this year. I think I am going on 8 years of bowhunting with no deer to show, so for a confidence factor, shooting a doe would work for me. Guess I need to decide what is more important, shooting a large doe or getting my first bow kill. Swoosh, thanks for the pics!
