In philosophy, an ethical dilemma, also called an ethical paradox or moral dilemma, is a situation in which two or more conflicting moral imperatives, none of which overrides the other, confront an agent. A closely related definition characterizes an ethical dilemma as a situation in which every available choice is wrong.

Morality and ethics are not the same thing; morality is a personal code of conduct and ethics is a code provided by a group of which you are a part. In the case of an ethical dilemna the individual always has the option to leave the group thus absolving them of any responsibility for the paradoxical situation or its consequences.
