The Debrecen Reformed Theological University (Hungarian: Debreceni Református Hittudományi Egyetem), in English translation also known as Debrecen University of Reformed Theology (but the first form is the official English name) is the successor of the Debrecen Reformed College (founded in 1538).

Debrecen was founded on 12 March 1902 as Debreceni Vasutas Sport Club. [4] The club first reached the Nemzeti Bajnokság I in the 1943–44 season. Debrecen rose to domestic prominence in the early 2000s when they won their first Hungarian league title in 2004–05 season. Since then the club managed to win seven titles in the 2010s total.
The 2022–23 season is Debreceni Vasutas Sport Club's 44th competitive season, 2nd consecutive season in the Nemzeti Bajnokság I and 120th year in existence as a football club.In addition to the domestic league, Debrecen participated in this season's editions of the Magyar Kupa.
