During 1970 the FIA decided to replace the existing Group 5 Sports Car category when the rules expired at the end of the 1971 season, so the big 917s and 512s would have to be retired at the end of that year. Surprisingly, Ferrari decided to give up any official effort with the 512 in order to prepare for the new 1972 season regulations.
The car was put up for sale again by RM Auctions at their London sale on 26 October 2010, with a guide price of £480,000 – £550,000. [3] The car was on display at the Museo Ferrari in 2012, as part of a show of Pininfarina's ten greatest designs. [4] In July 2015, the Pinin was listed for sale on Hemmings.com with an asking price of US$795,000.
