Shortly after Ohio was admitted to the Union, the first Episcopal church was established in the state at Worthington, near present-day Columbus in 1804. After years of fruitless petitions and through the hard work of missionaries and others, the General Convention of the Episcopal Church finally granted Ohio a separate diocese in 1818. [3]

Trinity Episcopal Church is a historic church on Capitol Square in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. It was built in 1866 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. The church features "The Church in the World", a stained glass window featuring Columbus landmarks and installed in 1965.
Built in 1903, it served as an Episcopal church in the past. It is an example of Late Gothic Revival style architecture. The large stone building displays simple massing, buttresses and cut stone detailing that exemplifies that style. On the south facade the arched entry, in a projecting bay, is echoed by the large sanctuary window.
