Ashintully Gardens is a 120 acre (0.5 km 2) estate in Tyringham, Massachusetts that is maintained by The Trustees of Reservations land trust. The gardens, and the adjoining 594 acres (2.4 km 2) McLennan Reservation, were the gift of John Stewart McLennan Jr., and his wife Katharine.
The Shaker community was established in 1792, and flourished, acquiring more than 2,000 acres (810 ha) in Tyringham and adjacent towns at the height of the movement's popularity. The farmstead of William Clark on Jerusalem Road was the site of the main settlement, with a satellite settlement about .75 miles (1.21 km) further north.
Historic house museum operated by The Trustees of Reservations. The 1773 Sheffield Declaration was drafted in the house. McLennan Reservation is a nature reserve located in Otis and Tyringham, Massachusetts. The property is owned by The Trustees of Reservations through a series of endowments for preserving the land, the first in 1977. [1] The reservation is adjacent to another Trustees property, Ashintully Gardens.

The bedrock marble from which the natural bridge was created is estimated to be some 550 million years old. Water from glacial runoff began carving the arch after the last ice age, 13,000 years ago. [4] The site of a marble quarry from 1810 to 1947 and a privately owned tourist attraction from 1950 to 1983, the site became a state park in 1985. [3]
