Horse Classifieds - Horses For Sale - Horse Trailers (You have to scroll down pretty far to view feature ads. There's a lot of junk to read on the page, and it does take a minute to load the menu at the top. But once it loads you can click on the far left option in the header and browse through horses for sale.)
Friesian or draft cross anythings, roans and anything flashy seem to be super popular on those sites. I've heard some horror stories about people buying this way, since it seems like most of the time people are buying sight unseen and shipping to them. Old videos and pics on the listing and the horse turns up looking neglected and out of shape.
I'm curious, too. I usually look on Equine Now Horses for Sale, Horsetopia - Horses for Sale and Horse Classifieds, HorseClicks - Horses for Sale - FREE Classified Ads, Kijiji or Craigslist. Honestly, the best deals seem to be on Craigslist, and it's the only place I can seem to find leases.
For example, I found this mare for $3,500 in Washington, seems like a decent horse and price. Arwen (Bella) - DreamHorse.com Horse ID: 2206270 Or this guy for $4,000. Spartan - DreamHorse.com Horse ID: 2211532 Depending on what you want, of course. Cindy (Cindy) - DreamHorse.com Horse ID: 2211074
Go online and use horse sale websites online, and for your city or area, see what other horses are going for. Ranch world adds is pretty good- but I think you have to pay $10 to post a classified. The FB group "western tack for sale, trade, barter" is pretty good.
I got ***** and searched several of the horse-sale websites and found the same horse, or the same seller email, several times (over 30!!) and reported them as scammers. Those ads disappeared, but a week later the same horse photos showed up with a different email. I searched and reported them over and over for a month. It doesn't do any good.
Agree with the lack of details, I understand on FB due to restrictions but on Craigslist or horse sale websites there's no reason to not provide more detail. Broke horses with no riding pictures.... Makes me nervous. My favorite last year was a mini Arab Philly I saw on Craigslist.
