In terms of hard load data, google-fu says 11.9gn of CFE BLK behind a 245gn lead cast bullet, 10.7gn H110 behind a 220gn Berrys plated bullet. QL predicts starting around 15.0gn of H110 and working down, should be ~80% fill so you should be able to hear the powder move while shaking the case.
Have very little experience with copper alloy bullets. Researching Hornady 165 grain CX for 30-06. What load data works for your 30-06. Rifle is a Remington SPS, 24” bbl. Not sure of twist. Thanks for the input. MTG
It's been awhile since I had something worth reloading and am now trying to get back into the swing of things. I opened up my Hornady reloading book for 155 gr 308 Winchester and found the data numbers for CFE 223 showing min 42.4 gr and max of 49.6 gr load. Looking at the Hodgdon load data on their website I see min of 49.5 gr and a max of 51. ...
I checked the Hodgdon data and extrapolated a min of 47.5 gn. and max of 50.5 gn. for H4350 using data for 140gr and 150 gr bullets. This caused me some consternation so I averaged the data from Sierra, Berger and Hornady and came up with a min of 49 gr and max of 54.4 gr of H4350 for the 270 145 gr ELD-X.
I just purchased the 'Hornady Handbook of Cartridges Reloading, 10th Edition' specifically for load data for the .243 (6mm) 90g ELD-X; However, much to my dissppointment, the load data for that bullet OR weight is not included. Could you please send me the load data for this bullet/weight via e-mail. Thank you.
The data, then, is NOT for reloading the used Hornady brass (shortened a pinch for some - God knows - reason) --> (maybe for old revolver cylinders that are too short for 1.6") BUT rather for standard length 357 brass.
Here is a 400 yd ladder I shot with my Savage LRH 300 WM using Nosler Brass, Rem 9 1/2 primer, H1000 and Hornady 212 ELD-X. I started at 74.0 gr and ended at 77.6 gr. Shots 4, 5 and 6 were 75.2 gr, 75.6 gr and 76.0 gr. I settled on 75.6 gr. Velocities were measured with my LabRadar. Conditions were 49 degrees and misty drizzle. 74.0 - 2798 74.4 ...
The attached spread sheet shows a variety of Hornady bullets - .224 (.22-.250), .243 (6mm CM & 6mm AI) & .264 (6.5CM & 6.5-06) with estimated velocities. As indicated the new ELD-VT bullets would/should provide advantages like flatter trajectories than some other Hornady bullets. Observe the higher velocities for the ELD-VT bullets.

Just tested a load today as Hornady said a 280AI wouldn't stabilize this bullet. Used 6.5 Staball and 55.5 gr to 56.0 produced 2990 fps and .5moa groups out of my 22inch barrel. Was kinda surprised it shot that good and with that velocity. Was .030 off the lands. Just thought I would share as I couldn't find much when I started this.
