I have a Walmart “value” 24f Neverstart in my car right now, I do not recommend, it came with the car when I bought it in 2020, it has a date code of 2020, a year after using it, the battery capacity and cranking amps just fell off the map, I can crank my car for literally 5 seconds before the voltage drops and you have no power left, don ...
But if you do not need a new battery, look for a battery or metal recycler in your area. Around here they will give you $15 cash for each car battery. If you simply want to see it disposed of safely your local auto mechanic may take it off your hands for free and sell or give it to a recycler. 1. Reply.
Nah, they want lead acid batteries pretty much exclusively. $8 for a 12 lbs battery is great, $8 for a 60 lbs battery sucks. I turned in a pair of 24v nicd to one of the younger guys and I don't think he knew the difference. Those came out of a cordless push mower, but they're closer to tool batteries than car batteries. Weighed about 10 lbs each.
I don't need a brand new one, just one that is usable. My current battery I have to jump at least once a day, sometimes more. Once jumped and running, I have 14.2V so I think it's just the battery. I know the car sat for a long time before I got it. (in a United States city over 100k population at the moment)
My trucks everstart battery is from 2016 and still going strong. Started up last winter no problems in 5 degree weather. A few months ago I changed a family member’s car battery. It was also an everstart that was like 13 years old. But it was a Chevy cobalt so the battery was in the trunk well protected from the environment. Looked damn near new.
Well, my local scrap yard buys them but they dint pay all that great there is a battery recycler that pays much better. $3 for like lawn mower batteries , $6 for car, 9,+ for "commercial" . That was a while ago tho. I had worked out a deal with a work buddy to buy them off me 100 at a time. Reply reply. Crazykillerguy.
Most places are about the same price, you might try Walmart or look for a used battery place near you. If you can wait buy it online and it'll come soon. If you cant. check walmart for cheap but shitty. costco if you have a membership. Pepboys has been really good, buy it online and pick it up in store for like 20% off.
AutoZone will give you a $10 credit. Most other places only give you the core fee on a swap. For the people asking why would you get cash for a dead battery. They are recycled and a scrap yard will buy them for around 5$ depending on weight to recycle. Ive brought a bunch to Metalico before for cash.
You take your old battery back to the same place and they give you this money back. Of you can take it to a battery store and they will give you $10-$20 bucks for it, depending on size. Thanks all. You'll most likely get a core return at a parts store. When I worked at Advance I think it was 10 or 15 bucks.
ADMIN MOD. AAA installed used car battery instead of new one. My car battery died, so yesterday I called AAA roadside assistance to get it replaced. I'm an AAA member, I pay $64 per year, partial benefit small discount on car batteries which cost $200. The technician charged me an extra $20 for the installation.
