I’ve bought a number of things from Ben Silver over the past 30 years. Mostly on sale. They carry high quality merchandise and full retail is pretty pricey. I have trousers, sport coats a number of ties and socks and a couple of shirts. All have been bought on sale and all are exceedingly fine items.

The Ben Silver's have chunky extra leather around the seams, which looks cool but makes it more casual, in my opinion. The Aldens are also great, but if my memory serves me correctly, about $225 or so. For the money, I think the Ben Silvers are great. I have had them a while, and they have held up very well.

Ben Silver is, in my opinion, a kind of national replacement for the thousands of small men's shops that have disappeared from upper middle class communities across the United States. The merchandise is not inexpensive, but it's not expensive either as these things go. And the quality is good. Will's thoughts on dressing with style.

  5. Glasses: Focusers vs. Anglo-American vs. Ben Silver

I need a new pair of glasses. I'd like to get some "tortoise-shell" P3s. I see them at Focusers, and I see them for rather more at Ben Silver, and I see the 406 at Anglo-American. I also see that Focusers claims there are imported from someone called Peabody-Pierce Ltd. in the UK, but the only hits online for that name are the Focusers' website.

The ones I have bought actually seemed a little cheap in terms of quality. And yet I still salivate when looking at the many available patterns.

  7. Ben Silver pricing? | Men's Clothing Forums

I think that ben silver does well because it surrounds the things it actually sells (polo shirts, OCBDs, ties etc) with the super expensive and exotic ($900 natural buffalo horn glasses $2600 cufflinks) it all gives it the association with luxury that Saville Row and Jermyn Street has always had.

Ben Silver I am not a Ben Silver fan my friends, any more. I see a serious decline in his business. For the very thing that happened. The G 9 BTW is from England. I am almost sure. That terrible, Ben Silver will see his business decline, because of this type of thing. BTW, ORVIS up there my friend, has been forthright with myself.

  9. Ben Silver Regimental Ties - Men's Clothing Forums

Does anyone have any experience with the quality of Ben Silver's ties? I am interested in three of the regimental ties offered on the site, and these seem to be the highest quality that I can find covering the three particular regiments of interest (my grandfather's and great-grandfather's British regiments, and my own former US regiment).

  10. Ben Silver tuxedo shirt in blue and pink? - Men's Clothing Forums

The only reason I haven't bought one, probably the pink, is the price. I don't think they would fit with a black tuxedo, but they would work with a white dinner jacket, perhaps with a shawl ...
