    I've played with both hanabi deluxe and hanabi deluxe II - both have been pretty nice editions. Neither has the weight of real mahjong tiles, they are much lighter but a good size on the table. In fact, deluxe II is even lighter in my experience. The tiles are made from some sort of plastic in both cases.

    Thanks for any pro tips. By western, I presume it is meant "American". American Mah Jongg is played with JOKER tiles as well as flowers. Otherwise, the Chinese set has the standard suits (Bamboos, Circles and Characters) and honor tiles (Winds and Dragons) and 2 sets of 4 flowers. The Western set is usually numbered, where the Chinese set is not.
