SeaWorld San Antonio is a 416-acre (168 ha) marine mammal park, oceanarium and animal theme park in the Westover Hills District of San Antonio, Texas, on the city's west side. It is the largest of the three parks in the SeaWorld chain owned and operated by United Parks & Resorts .
When the underwater restaurant concept was deemed unfeasible, they scrapped those plans and decided to build a park instead, and SeaWorld San Diego was opened on March 21, 1964. With a few dolphins, sea lions, six attractions and 22 acres (89,000 m 2 ), the park proved to be a success and more than 400,000 guests visited in the first 12 months.

In 1970, the second park SeaWorld Ohio was built in Aurora, Ohio and it featured a Dolphin Cove but in January 2001, SeaWorld Ohio was sold to Six Flags resulting in the exhibit's closure. [1] In 1973, the third Dolphin Cove opened together with SeaWorld Orlando. [2] In 1988, the fourth Dolphin Cove in SeaWorld San Antonio opened its doors. [3]

On October 21, 2019, it was announced that the second Sesame Place would be located in San Diego at Chula Vista, California, replacing the current Aquatica San Diego, which closed at the end of the season in fall 2020. Originally set to open in 2021, its opening was delayed to March 26, 2022, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
