The hospital started as Camp Gordon Station Hospital in 1941, caring for World War II casualties and dependents. It was closed in 1946, but reopened as Camp Gordon became the more permanent Fort Gordon during the Cold War. The hospital's current building, opened for patients in 1976, replaced sprawling wooden buildings from the World War II era.

A Military Police School, earlier operating at Fort Gordon, Georgia, was officially transferred to Fort McClellan on July 11, 1975. The Military Police School provided training programs in general policing activities, corrections and detention operations, police and criminal intelligence operations, combat support operations, and security.

The command structure for 7th SC (T) includes the 21st Signal Brigade in Fort Detrick Maryland, 93rd Signal Brigade in Fort Eustis, Virginia, and 106th Signal Brigade in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. The 93rd operates Network Enterprise Centers (NECs) at installations in the Eastern United States, while the 106th operates NECs in the West. [2]
