"Run Boy Run" is a song by Yoann Lemoine, under his stage name Woodkid. It was released as the second single from his debut studio album, The Golden Age (2013). It was written by Lemoine and Ambroise Willaume from the French band Revolver. The single was released on 21 May 2012, becoming his highest-charting single.
The song gained popularity after being used in a trailer for Assassin's Creed: Revelations. It was also sampled in Kendrick Lamar 's "The Spiteful Chant" on his 2011 album section.80 . On 5 October 2021, a newer arrangement of Iron, titled Iron 2021 , was released in conjunction with the original song's 10th anniversary.
Yoann Lemoine was born in Poland to a mother of Polish-Jewish origin, then they moved later on in his life to Tassin-la-Demi-Lune, near Lyon. [10] He studied illustration and animation at the Émile Cohl school, where he completed his diploma with honors.
He also stated that "Lemoine's music is more in line with Antony & the Johnsons-- lavish, often torchy songs that pair dramatic backdrops with his charmingly imperfect vocals", and, despite the fact that it is an "at times exhausting album, The Golden Age shows Lemoine is skilled at making music as well as music videos." [8]
The song was also in a movie series of "Tatort", a German TV-programme, called "Freddy tanzt" (Freddy dances). [6] The song was also used in L'Écume des jours (Boris Vian). It was the song of the Paris bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics and the 2024 Summer Paralympics with the bid concept and slogan "Made for Sharing".
