Today, AAMCO is the world's largest franchisor of transmission specialists and car repair shops, operating over 600 franchise stores in the United States, Canada. AAMCO is also known for its distinctive television and radio commercials, which end with a voice saying "AAMCO, double-A [car horn beeps twice] M-C-O."
The company expanded to a few hundred locations throughout the United States and Canada and became the nation's second-largest chain of transmission repair shops. In April 2004, American Capital invested $46 million in the acquisition of Cottman Transmission and purchased the company for $77.3 million including the investment.
Nagy Brothers Shoe Repair is a historic building in the Hungarian Village neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio. The one-story structure was built in 1932 in a vernacular commercial style. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] The building was historically used as a shoe repair shop and gas station.
The McClure-Nesbitt Motor Company operated out of the building for the next four decades. The building became vacant in 1964, and cycled through ownerships, operating either as a dealership or car repair facility. In 2018, a nonprofit developer began converting the building to hold arts businesses and apartments.
