The Longwood turntable is said to be one of only four trolleybus turntables ever to have been constructed worldwide. By the standards of the various now-defunct trolleybus systems in the United Kingdom, the Bournemouth system was a medium-sized one, with a total of 22 routes, and a maximum fleet of 104 trolleybuses.
