The 2025 Alabama Crimson Tide football team will represent the University of Alabama during the 2025 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The season will be the Crimson Tide's 131st overall season, and 92nd as a member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
As a player, Mitchell was the first African-American to play football for the storied Alabama Crimson Tide. In his second year with the program he became the first African-American co-captain at the school. The next year, he became the team's first black assistant coach and also the youngest coach to have ever been hired at Alabama.
Since its inaugural class that year, Alabama has had 25 persons elected to the Hall of Fame as either a player or coach of the Crimson Tide. [2] The first Alabama inductees into the Hall of Fame were Don Hutson and Frank Thomas as part of the inaugural class in 1951. [3] The most recent inductee was Antonio Langham as part of the 2024 class.
Alabama had six players earn first team All-America honors from the WCFF in 2020, the most in the history of Walter Camp voting. Alabama's 2020 roster features seven first team All-Americans to tie the 2011 roster for the most first-teamers in a single season in program history.
