The campus, planned before Pakistan's independence, was constructed in 1951 through the efforts of college professors, including Muhammad Jahangir Khan and Abdul Aleem Farooqi. [5] In 2009, the college was renamed Government Post-Graduate College for Boys Sahiwal by the Government of Punjab, Pakistan. [5]
In January 2005, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan (BZU) established a sub-campus in Sahiwal inaugurated by the then Governor of the Punjab in 2005. In 2015, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab passed an act under which sub-campus was upgraded to a full-fledged university named University of Sahiwal. [2]
