Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU or SYU) is a private liberal arts university on North Point, Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. Founded in 1971 as Hong Kong Shue Yan College ( 香港樹仁學院 ) by Henry Hu and Chung Chi-yung, it was unilaterally recognised as the first private university by the order of the Chief Executive on 19 December 2006.

Ng was born in 1988 or 1989 in Hong Kong. [1] [2] She grew up in Wan Tau Tong Estate, Tai Po, [3] and described her family's situation as poor. [4]She attended Hong Kong Shue Yan University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English language and literature. [5]
Initially the day (commonly called the Access to Information Day) was designated by the UNESCO General Conference. It was inaugurated in November 2015 and was first held on 28 September 2016. The day had been recognised as International Right to Know Day since 2002 and was developed by international civil society advocates beginning in 2012.
The Hong Kong Shue Yan University was invited to participate but declined, opting to maintain an independent admissions process. [ citation needed ] As part of Hong Kong’s education reform , the HKALE was phased out in 2012, though retakes were allowed in 2013.
