Mountbatten Road is a major thoroughfare that stretches all the way from the junction with Nicoll Highway, Guillemard Road and Sims Way (where Kallang Airport Way branches out from Sims Way) in Kallang to Haig Road in Katong where it continues eastward as East Coast Road.

As there are two stations surrounding the Old Airport Road, it was renamed to Mountbatten. Mountbatten was selected after Louis Mountbatten, 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma, the Supreme Allied Commander (Southeast Asia) who accepted the Japanese surrender of Singapore during the Second World War.
The building became one of 15 on Mountbatten Road to have been gazatted for conservation by the Urban Redevelopment Authority in 1991. In 1999, the bungalow was sold to businessman Ang Koon San, who restored the bungalow and built a new two-storey extension, connected to the original bungalow via a glass canopy.
