Established in 1926, St. Augustine's Catholic School is a comprehensive Pre-K to 8th grade Western Association of Schools and Colleges accredited institution located in Culver City, California, USA. It was founded by the Daughters Of Mary and Joseph, an order of nuns, and to this day is connected to St. Augustine Church in Culver City.
The school is under the jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Middlesbrough. Previously a voluntary aided school administered by North Yorkshire County Council, in June 2019 St Augustine's Catholic School converted to academy status. The school is now sponsored by the St Margaret Clitherow Catholic Academy Trust
91% of St. Augustine graduates go on to college or university. St. Augustine's is on the Catholic Education Honor Roll as of October 2017 and was also named to it in 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2014. [3] High school students averaged 54 hours of volunteer service to the community in 2014. Total cumulative service hours totaled over 3,426.
The school opened in 1963 originally intaking 450 pupils. It is now the largest Roman Catholic high school in its LEA. St Augustine's won the DfES School Achievement Award for both 2000–2001 and 2001–2002. It was the only high school in Lancashire to be awarded Beacon status in 2002.
The St. Augustine High School's top band, "The Jazz Ambassadors", was invited to perform at the Montreux Jazz Festival on two occasions (1996 and 1999) as well as the Umbria Jazz Festival and North Sea Jazz Festival(1999). The marching band performs at the school's home football games; concert band is a concert ensemble setting.
The school has a Maths Block named 'The Canterbury Suite'. The opening was attended by the Jacqui Smith, the former MP for Redditch and former Home Secretary. St. Augustine's is the oldest continuously operating High School in Redditch, and the name has remained unchanged since it was opened in September 1974.
The school opened in August 2003. [2] As of the 2022–23 school year it enrolled 260 students, and was accredited as a college-preparatory school by the Western Catholic Educational Association. [1] The school draws from throughout the Tucson area; approximately 74 percent of the student body was Hispanic/Latino by ancestry.
The school is operated by the corporate educational agency of the archdiocese. [1] St. Augustine's upgraded into a higher secondary school in 1998. The school has 800 students with a staff establishment of 50, and its current local manager is Fr. James Vadakkekandankary. [1]
