The balance of the homes were decreed to be in the modern "organic" style ordained by Wright. The community was named "Usonia" in homage to Wright, whose ideas on the way Americans should live together guided their plan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012 as the Usonia Historic District. [1]
The Sturges House is the only structure in Southern California built in the modern style Wright called Usonian design. [4] Other Wright homes in the area were built in the 1920s with interlocking, pre-cast concrete blocks, which he named "textile block" style, and seen in such homes as the Ennis House .
The original establishment was called Bridgeport by its founder. Mr. Wright acquired much of the property in this settlement following his arrival in 1833. [6] A post office called Wrightstown has been in operation since 1852. [7] The village was named for Joel Wright, the owner of the original town site. [8]
The house, like other Wright-designed Usonian automatics, is composed of concrete blocks that is broken up by glass and redwood plywood. The Tracy House is 1,150 square feet (107 m 2 ) and has three bedrooms and one bathroom as well as a two-car garage ; the lot itself is 31,000 square feet (2,900 m 2 ) and faces the Puget Sound .

This sequence was affected by the late stages of the Alpine Orogeny, forming the Isle of Wight monocline, the cause of the steeply-dipping outcrops of the Chalk Group and overlying Paleogene strata seen at The Needles, Alum Bay and Whitecliff Bay.
