GoCary is the public transportation provider in Cary, a community in the Research Triangle urbanized area in North Carolina.While the city of Raleigh provides service to most of the county via GoRaleigh, Cary opted to retain its own town-owned system.
The 1989 session of the North Carolina General Assembly enabled the creation of the Triangle Transit Authority as a regional public transportation authority serving Durham, Orange, and Wake counties. The new unit of local government was chartered by the NC Secretary of State on December 1, 1989.
The Triangle encompasses the Raleigh-Durham-Cary, NC Combined Statistical Area, which had an estimated population of 2,368,947 in 2023.
