The Northern 10 conference was founded in 2012 by ten schools located in north-central Ohio. Six of these schools (Buckeye Central, Bucyrus, Colonel Crawford, Crestline, Riverdale, and Wynford) came from the North Central Conference, three (Carey, Mohawk, and Seneca East) came from the Midland Athletic League, and one came from the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference. Carey High School is a public high school in Carey, Ohio. It is the only high school in the Carey Exempted Village Schools district. Their nickname is the Blue Devils. They are members of the Northern 10 Athletic Conference.
Carey and Wynford joined the NCC for the 1963-64 school year. The league remained consistent until the 1990-91 school year when Elgin, Pleasant, Ridgedale and River Valley joined the newly formed Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference ; Carey and Mohawk left for the Midland Athletic League ; while Crestline, Fredericktown and Ontario joined the NCC.

The Midland Athletic League was an OHSAA athletic league located in northwest Ohio that was formed in 1985. Mark King was the last commissioner. The league folded following the 2013-14 school year as its members found new league homes.
