JS was an American female R&B duo. The duo consisted of members and sisters Kim Johnson and Kandy Johnson-Isley. After releasing their debut album, Ice Cream , in 2003 to subpar commercial performance, they disbanded a year later.
The song was one of a series of comic novelty songs set in "exotic" locations, one of the earliest and most famous being "Oh By Jingo!" The verses of "Ice Cream" talk of a fictional college in "the land of ice and snow, up among the Eskimo", the college cheer being the chorus of the song "I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream".
JS, which is abbreviated for Johnson Sisters, originally consisted of Kim along with sisters Krystal and Kandy. Krystal however, left the group after marrying Phillip Bailey of R&B group Earth, Wind & Fire. As a duo Kim & Kandy released their debut, and so far, only album, produced by R. Kelly, entitled Ice Cream, in July 2003.

The song was composed by Prince and Morris Day, with Prince writing the lyrics after recording the instrumental tracks. Day provided drums and lead vocals, while Jesse Johnson played electric guitars on the recording. Prince played all the other instruments.
