Kempinski Hotels S.A., commonly known as Kempinski, is a luxury hotel management company headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. Founded in Berlin in 1897 as the Hotelbetriebs-Aktiengesellschaft , the group currently operates 77 five-star hotels and residences in 35 countries.
The town is known nowadays mainly for its regionally used shopping centre, the Isenburg-Zentrum (IZ), the Hugenottenhalle, the Hotel Kempinski Frankfurt, the Autokino Gravenbruch (the oldest drive-in cinema in Europe), the Sportpark, the Waldschwimmbad (swimming pool) and its location near Frankfurt Airport.
After the World War II, Heiligendamm continued to be a spa. From 1949 to 1990 the Grand Hotel was the main part of the sanatorium for working people. In 1990 the sanatorium became the Ostseeklinik Heiligendamm. The Treuhandanstalt sold the package of 26 houses to the Median Clinic Group at the end of 1997. The real estate went to the Fundus Group.
The Grand Hotel Kempinski High Tatras is a five-star hotel operated by Kempinski Hotels S.A. located on the shores of Štrbské pleso (Tschirmer See) in High Tatras, Slovakia. After a EUR 42 million refurbishment of the former spa house complex Hviezdoslav, the hotel was inaugurated in May 2009. [ 1 ]

The Giardino di Costanza Resort is a hotel in Italy which formerly belonged to the International Kempinski Hotels chain. The Resort stands among rows of vineyards and olive groves in the western side of Sicily, near Mazara del Vallo, in the province of Trapani. The Resort is entitled to Constance of Sicily, the last Hauteville.
Kempinski later specialised on wine trading and devolved the management to his son in law and his nephew. [1] Kempinski died 14 March 1910 in Berlin and was buried in an honorary grave at the Jewish Weißensee cemetery. [4] [5] In an obituary the Berliner Tageblatt called him one of the most popular men of Berlin. [3]
