Mario Party 9 (Japanese: マリオパーティ9, Hepburn: Mario Pāti Nain) is a 2012 party video game developed by NDcube and published by Nintendo for the Wii. [3] The ninth main installment in the Mario Party series, it was announced at E3 2011 [4] [5] and released in Europe, North America, and Australia in March 2012, followed by Japan a month later.

Mario Party 9 has a lesser focus on strategy, and its minigames do not impact the board game in ways that the previous Mario Party games did.
In 2019, the director of the Mario Party series since his Hudson Soft days, Shuichiro Nishiya, became the company's president of the company in the place of Hidetoshi Endo, who was the president of NDcube for almost ten years. [8] In 2024, NDcube was renamed to Nintendo Cube. [9]
