Decatur County is a county located in the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 29,367. [1] The county seat is Bainbridge. [2] Decatur County comprises the Bainbridge, GA Micropolitan Statistical Area (μSA), which is included in the Tallahassee—Bainbridge, FL-GA Combined Statistical Area.
Glennwood Estates has been a distinct parcel since DeKalb County, Georgia, was first divided into parcels. The property passed through a number of owners until it was sold to John T. Glenn, a carpetbagger from New York, c. 1869. [2] Mr. Glenn began developing land in the area in the 1870s. His house is noted on an 1879 map of Decatur. [3]
The city is the county seat of Decatur County. [6] As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 14,468, up from 12,697 at the 2010 census. It is the principal city of the Bainbridge, Georgia Micropolitan Statistical Area and a principal city in the Tallahassee—Bainbridge, FL-GA Combined Statistical Area.
